“Very easy not to leave.”

What they wrote

Lauren Murphy came for a few days and wrote about how quickly time stopped mattering: sea swims, stone pools, long breakfasts with eggs from the hotel’s own hens, and reading by the water.

Her favourite moments were small and specific — a suite terrace turned into a private cinema with blankets and popcorn, an afternoon at Rups when she wanted a little more buzz, and Under the Stars, the guest-chef dinner served beneath the night sky.

The one she lingered on was the Dastar workshop. Sitting with Gülşah beneath the trees, she helped finish a cotton scarf Gülşah had been weaving for three days — and when they were done, Gülşah wrapped it around her neck as a gift.

She also told the story of how it began: in 2011, founder Hakkı slept in a tent on this stretch of coast, loved waking to the waves and the birds, and opened Perdue the following year as an answer to one question — how to sleep properly without losing the feeling of being outdoors.
