UNBOUND

A Living Art Platform

Art is not only something to be seen, but something to be lived. UNBOUND is a living platform inviting a reimagining of belonging through art — bringing together artists, creative practices and meaningful encounters through nature, space, time and memory.

2026 Theme
SILENCE

With each season, new themes and new voices offer a deeper way of seeing, feeling, and belonging.

Silence

Soulsetters UNBOUND begins with sculptor Ozan Ünal

“We work inside so much noise — engines, traffic, everything else. And like everyone, we carry so many personas: father, partner, and a dozen more. For an artist, silence is first of all what frees you from those personas. It is where you finally understand who you really are.”

Gradually your ears grow accustomed to the silence — and then, so do you.

That is why he chose to draw here. “Stripped of every persona, I wonder: what was I? What comes out of me when I let Ozan go? That is why I love the silence here.”

What struck him was a landscape left as it is: no designed scenery, only places to live, to eat and to swim, shaped around the land. “Nature hasn’t been spoiled. Nobody said: let’s cut five trees and add one more room. In the end, we all belong to nature — and nature already gives you everything you need.”

“What I struggle with most is never being able to synchronise the speed of life with my own inner speed. We are constantly stimulated, anxious about a million things. Here you live a far more real life: you’re hungry, you eat; thirsty, you drink; tired, you sleep. You manage your own time — at most, you follow what nature decides. Not being interrupted is a real kind of ease.”

To create truly meaningful work, an artist must first create — or discover — a world of their own. This is one of those places where inspiration finds you ready.

When Inspiration Takes a Form

From thought to creation

For sculptor Ozan Ünal, inspiration is the beginning of a journey from intuition to form. A sculpture does not need words: its posture, its movement, sometimes its mere presence is enough. When form becomes the expression of the intuition that inspired it, the sculpture begins to speak.

Sometimes a sculpture doesn’t need to say anything at all. Body language is a voice — and silence, for that voice, is essential.

His residency closes with a promise rather than a departure: “I will carry the feeling with me — so I want to leave everything I drew here, here. I will shape the sculpture in my studio, and together we will bring it back and set it in its place.”

Created for Perdue, Opus I marks the beginning of an artistic legacy in which every artist leaves a unique trace and becomes part of an evolving story.

Seven or eight years from now, a visitor will stand here among the works of ten different artists. Being the first — that is a joy of its own.

When Silence Becomes a Language

Where the landscape leaves its trace

For Beril Ateş, silence is a state of stepping away from the outside world and simply being with oneself — a way of settling into time itself. At Perdue she found that silence in a landscape in constant motion: waves change, light shifts, colours merge — yet the rocks remain.

The rocks feel like sculptures that stop time. Whatever the water brings, for thousands of years they have answered: I accept everything that comes from you.

Their cracks and hollows became her source: traces shaped by time, carrying a quiet endurance, acceptance and belonging — marks she reads as the trace love leaves behind. On these ancient Lycian lands, once matriarchal ground, those same hollows spoke to her of a feminine energy held in stone.

The invitation itself, she says, is the gift: a theme to think with, and a way out of the rush of the everyday. “Perdue was a state of attunement for me — like the harmony of water and rock. This became a place where I found myself.”

Perhaps silence begins not when everything becomes quiet, but when we choose what to listen to.
